Text for proposed letter to the District Council re Stowe Hill site

As referred to in Weedon News, below are some hints for a letter to the District Council's Planning Enforcement Officers regarding the land at Stowe Hill, A5, Weedon, should you require it. The original application number is DA/2015/0195.

I wish to register my strong objections and disapproval to the ongoing development by the owners of the land at the development site on Stowe Hill, A5, Weedon. The current condition and use of the site does not bear any resemblance to the original outline permission. The site is also in flagrant breach of conditions of the original application, which was for 'Use of land for stationing of caravans for residential purposes - One Gypsy and Traveller pitches, formation of hardstanding, resurfacing of partially overgrown access track and conversion of existing building to dayroom ancillary to that use' with a condition that 'no more than one mobile home and one day van shall be stationed on the site at any one time' and that 'The development shall not be occupied until highway improvement works to the access from the site to the A5 are complete'.

To date there are five static residential caravans/mobile homes and numerous vehicles. The site is occupied contrary to those conditions and it should not be further developed until access is improved and the number of residential units regularised.

As a local resident in Weedon I am very concerned that the Planning & Enforcement Officers are not upholding the Planning Conditions as set down originally. I am concerned that should the owners of the site continue to be permitted to develop in the current manner, they will then seek retrospective planning consent , which will be granted as it will have become too difficult for DDC's officers to refuse. While the current retrospective application remedies the last condition, namely access to the site, I would expect the District Council's Enforcement Officers to challenge and remedy the obvious overuse of the site.

I look forward to your response to my letter and an update on how the situation will be addressed.
