Village Show

Sat, 10 Sep 2022 14:00

The Weedon Bec Village Show is back again this September and will be bigger and better than ever based on YOU!

Now is the time to start thinking about which classes you or someone in your family would like to enter. There is a huge variety covering the garden, crafting and the kitchen. Anyone can enter and we have classes especially for our younger Weedon residents (PS don't tell the adults but there may be some goodie bags for all under 14s taking part!).

You can enter as many classes as you like, the more the merrier. If you get placed in any of the classes you will get points and with those points you are in the running to win some wonderful trophies that have been donated over the years, and can sit in your home proudly for the next 12 months.

This is such a marvellous tradition and fun for both exhibitors and for those that come to admire the amazing talent of our village on the day of the show.

As usual the Committee has reviewed the classes and made some minor tweaks to reflect this year's themes and confirm recipes. We are also very excited to announce the introduction of a new class; Eggs! Yes, for the growing number of backyard poultry keepers, there is a class for presenting 6 eggs from your feathered friends. We have a special judge for this class, local chicken expert Emma Middleton, who will also be available to answer your poultry related questions.

As ever there will be the most delicious cakes, home baked in Weedon for you to enjoy with a drink for a small charge. We will also have our ever popular tombola and raffle. (If you have any donations for either, these will be gratefully accepted).

We still have a few of our wonderful Weedon Cookbooks left. If you can't wait and would like one now before they are all sold get in contact with Zoe O'Toole, Andie Raymond or Sue Halkett.

And just one more thing, this year we are very excited to announce that our very own Sophie Cheney, member of the Britain's Got Talent - Golden Buzzer - Born to Perform group will be presenting the prizes.

All details regarding classes and rules are in the booklet which is delivered with this edition of the Weedon News. If yours is missing contact Sue Halkett on weedonbecpc@btinternet.com for another copy or one will be available to download on the website www.weedonbec-village.co.uk.

LIKE MINDED LADIES

Tue, 27 Sep 2022 14:00

If you are new to the village and looking for an informal setting to meet people, we are a group of ladies who get together for a cup of tea, cake (provided by rota of the members, homemade or bought) and a chat. We charge £2 for every meeting you attend. From time to time we go out for a meal, to the theatre, or help with various events in the village. At the moment some of us are knitting Commonwealth flowers for a display outside the church, to help commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

We have changed the day we meet, which is now the 4th Tuesday in the month in the Chapter House at the Church. Timing: 2pm to 4pm,

If you would like more information or wish to join us, please contact Isabella Masters on 01327 342141
